[Los Angeles had been entirely carefree for Mark; with Sylvanas starting the port off in Zero he had no innmate to look after and had been free to make his way around the city being the world's most identifiable tourist. Somehow he escaped being mugged, and has brought back gifts for two inmates.

The first is a package marked "For Touko, from Mark" and is reasonably small: A photo scrapbook he put together, including pictures of the Hollywood sign, Sunset Strip, the LaBrea Tar Pits, and other famous landmarks around the area. There's even a picture of Kurt Russell ducking into a convenience store. On top of the book is a pair of these.

The second gift is for his own inmate, a dress that seemed made for her (and was a lot less revealing than most of what she already wore). Mark leaves it outside her door and doesn't knock, knowing she'll find it eventually. There is of course no indication who it's from: there's a printed label on the box reading WINDRUNNER but nothing else.

Much, much later he sends off a few private messages.

Do you still need to talk? I'm sorry I haven't been more available, but it sounded like you were really struggling. How are things now?

[Private to Chris]
Long time, no talking. Did you want to get together again this week?

[Private to Sylvanas]
What did you do in your free time?

Ladies, gentlemen, and neuters of the Barge,

It's both my honor and my pleasure to offer my congratulations to Satsuki on her graduation. She's come a long way and done a lot of work since she first arrived and we all should be proud of her.

Also, I know the last flood was kind of unpredictable. Pretty sure nothing harmful came out of it, but... well, we made a mess. I'm planning to pitch in with cleaning, and if anyone wants to volunteer too I'd love the help. Maybe we could even get a full janitorial team for the day.

[Private to Chris]
Hey. I heard you got into an argument, want to talk about it?

It's really reassuring to see everyone talking to people from home! This is a great opportunity to catch up with our worlds and learn more about each other's lives.

For those who don't know me, hi. Mark Lilly, Social Services Coordinator at the New York Department of Integration. If anyone from home or work is watching, I miss you guys! And I really hope Leonard isn't teaching my class.

Um, look.

Not really being much of a fighter or a genius on the fly, I'm not sure how much I can help in this upcoming port. What I can do is ask the Admiral for supplies of basic survival gear to pass out to anyone interested. I'm talking backpacks, waterbottles, compasses, tents, freeze-dried food, rain ponchos, flashlights, emergency blankets, that kind of thing. I'm going to try to start putting together packages for any teams that might go out, and if you want one, please let me know.

[Private to Satsuki]
How have you been feeling lately? I wanted to talk to you about your friends again.

[Private to Junko]
It has been a long time since I heard from you. What's going on in your life? Are you still despairing?

[Private to Anya]
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. You wanted to talk?

[Private to Megamind]
...Is there any chance you're free for some video games tonight?

[The feed flips on, and Mark's forehead and cheek fill half the frame at an awkward angle as he props up his communicator. Then he's smiling brightly, waving at everyone watching with all his signature goodwill.]

Everybody! I'm not sure exactly what the current flood is all about, but everything seems to be okay. As far as I could tell, anyway, I got a little distracted. [He beams and holds up a small clump of scaly grey feathers approximately the size of a tennis ball.]

The egg from Lakeside hatched this afternoon! I looked through a bunch of birdwatching field guides and bestiaries and pet care books, and I'm pretty sure she's a dire hummingbird. So say hello to Winifred, everyone, the newest passenger on board!

[Private to Megamind and Fukawa]
I want to thank you two especially, for rescuing me from the mother hummingbird and helping me hatch this one. I really owe you both.

OOC: Mark is not affected and neither is the hummingbird! He's always like this.

Good afternoon Bargewell High students, teachers, and parents! This is Mr. Lilly with a few general announcements. First up, as Principal Masters announced earlier there is a PTA meeting tomorrow night. I'll be attending if any of you want to discuss your child's progress in school, and students, if you're worried you're welcome to talk to me. [Whether you like it or not, Masters. No power in the 'verse can stop proper youth mentoring.]

Secondly, thank you to all the adults who agreed to speak at the career fair assembly. It'll take place just after the lunch hour this Thursday, and we still have a few time slots open so if you'd like to share your professional experiences with the kids please contact me.

Finally, I want to put some nasty rumors to rest. As I'm sure some of you heard, staff did recently catch a student in possession of reefer cigarettes. The parents were informed and the drug was confiscated and destroyed. While this is upsetting for all of us, let me remind everyone that this was a single incident and we've found no evidence that the student body is suffering from "reefer madness." That's just a big city thing, people, seriously. I don't think we've got anything weird to worry about.

That's all, ladies and gentlemen! Thanks for your time.

[All throughout the breach, Mark Lilly, Bargewell High School guidance counselor, is basically a teacher from Pleasantville. He's often in his office on the ground floor of the high school, on sentinel for students in distress or reading up on this "child psychology" thing. He can also be found around town greeting EVERY SINGLE PERSON he sees, because he is that guy at the party who no one seemed to invite yet somehow knows everyone's name.]
